The Evolution Of Clothing

The up keep and attention that people give their fabric is nothing new. It goes back since the first time men and women started to wear clothes. It wouldn't be surprising if Adam and eve after biting into the "fruit of knowledge", and were cursed to start wearing clothes, started worrying about the up keep of them also. Of course in those days they most likely didn't have more complex fabrics such as cashmere.

In fact the earliest known "clothes" were most likely made from crude substances such as leaves and grass. But it is widely accepted that the first users of such clothes were the people who lived in more frigid temperatures. Because for the simple reason that living in such climates requires more protection for the body.

There is evidence of cold weather clothing made from seal and bear fur in Russia that goes back 30,000 years yes that's 30,000years ago. They even had needles made from bone to aid them in the first production of clothes. As mentioned before when human kind began migrating to cooler climates from warmer ones the need for clothes became real. They were worn by simply wrapping the body in them. But the fact remains that we still don't know when mankind first started to wear clothes.

The making of textiles used to be, and still is, a laborious process. Perhaps it's not a coincidence that when the industrial revolution first hit one of the first industries to benefit from it was the textile industry. Along with it sprang an industry that concentrated on the upkeep of clothes.

But nowadays we take for granted at all the different objects that are designed to keep our clothes looking new. There are tools such as the electric iron, the ordinary coat hanger, washing machines etc. to name a few. So it was only a matter of time when something was invented for the upkeep of a sweater. Such an instrument is called a sweater shaver. It is used to take out any knots or imperfections of your wool product.
